Resumé :

La peinture des personnages et la discussion du thème d’un extrait littéraire constituent un exercice très difficile et stérile pour la plupart des étudiants de l’anglais comme langue étrangère.  Cet article se propose de montrer comment la déixis et la technique d’animation peuvent aider ces étudiants à dégager le portrait des personnages et le thème dans l’extrait de D.H. Lawrence intitulé Daughters of the Vicar.

Abstract :

The discussion of characterization and theme in a literary extract constitutes for most EFL students a brain-cudgeling, fruitless exercise. This article purports to show how deixis and animation technique can help these students to bring out characterization and theme in an extract from D.H. Lawrence’s Daughters of the Vicar.
